“A Tribute to Callas” concert with exhibition on the occasion of the 100th Birthday of the divine Maria Callas in Castelvecchio Verona.
The soprano Claudia Oddo will be together with the TRIO VERONA LIRICA on the 2nd. December in cooperation with the Circolo Unificato dell’esercito in the Castelvecchio Verona and the Callas Museum celebrate the birthday of the great soprano Meneghini Callas. The event is enriched by the great voices of Matteo Barca and Simone Zampieri, two tenors of Verona.
The exhibition will show original dresses, photos and paintings of the Callas, and during the concert, photos of the Greek soprano will be projected, who on the 2nd. August 1947 in the arena with La Gioconda by Ponchielli and two years later married Meneghini, with whom she lived in Zevio, where today the Callas Museum is located.
The Sicilian soprano Claudia Oddo, who lives in Germany, winner of the 1st Music prize “Premio Cataldo Bancheri 2023” of the Rotary Club Tevere Rome, the “Premio Verona lirica 2013” designed this event after dedicating a concert with a photo exhibition with tribute to Callas in 2009 and the Alte Philharmonie Münster in the Bielefeld Oetker Halle in cooperation with the International Maria Callas Association of Venice, led by Bruno Tosi. Together with the concertmaster of the orchestra of the Arena di Verona Foundation Günther Sanin, she cultivates a long concert activity that promotes the cultural exchange between Italy and Germany.
The concert ‘Tribute to Callas’ will be the second concert of the series ‘La Lirica al Castello’, which was initiated in cooperation with the Director of the Military Association in Castellvecchio Verona, Lieutenant Colonel Luca Passante. Admission to the concert only for invited guests.
